You can certainly head to a sports bar or a friend's house to watch the New England Patriots take on the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 2018. But if you're going to be out on Sunday, February 4, or are just looking for some alone time with your phone, you can still catch all the action of this year's NFL championship game. NBC will broadcast the Super Bowl LII this year, and you can catch the game live on your local NBC channel, the NBC sports site, or through an app from a live streaming service, such as SlingTV or DirectTV Now.
So download a streaming app, get out of the house, and watch the football game live, without being tethered to your TV.
If you intend to watch the Super Bowl on your phone when it kicks off at 6:30 pm ET, one of a handful of dedicated sports apps should be up to the task.
You can watch the Super Bowl live on your phone or tablet with the NFL Mobile app, no matter which wireless carrier you use. You can't stream a live feed of the game to your TV, however. To kill time, while you're waiting for the game to begin, check out articles, video highlights from other Super Bowls, and a live feed of the NFL Network.
Yahoo's Sports app wants to be your one-stop source for sports news. Along with NFL coverage, there's college and pro basketball, baseball, international soccer, you name it. And this year again, you can catch a live stream of the Super Bowl on Yahoo's app. (And if you have it bad, you can watch the Pro Bowl on the app, too.)
NBC is the official Super Bowl channel for the 2018 game. If you want to catch the match on your mobile device, download the NBC Sports app. You can also watch the Super Bowl online on NBC's sports website. And after the game, you might want to consider keeping the app on your phone, because NBC also has the 2018 Winter Olympics, so you can watch the Winter Games from South Korea as well.
If you’re a cord-cutter, DirectTV Now, Hulu, PlayStation Vue, Sling TV, and YouTube TV all carry NBC in select markets as part of a subscription package. The apps for all these OTT services will also let you watch a Super Bowl live stream on your phone. Confirm that the NBC local affiliate is available in your region before you subscribe.
For $35 a month, you can subscribe to DirecTV Now's basic streaming service, which includes NBC, if it's available in your area.
It's hard to beat Hulu for original and live content. Hulu with Live TV offers 50 or so channels -- including NBC -- for $39.99 a month, with access to all of Hulu's on-demand catalog.
The basic Access subscription level of Playstation Vue includes NBC and 50-something channels, for $39.99 a month.
For value -- $25 a month -- subscribe to SlingTV's Blue package, which includes NBC and 45 other channels.
